Diesel Mechanic

Diesel Mechanic (45 hours per week)

Job Description:

Diesel mechanic is responsible for performing preventive maintenance inspection; troubleshoots, repairs and rebuilds major components on vehicles and equipment.  Ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.

  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronic systems to diagnose needed repairs
  • Repair and maintain: engines, frames, suspensions, ignition, fuel, braking, electrical, hydraulic, air and steering systems
  • Performs DOT vehicle safety inspections and maintain documentation per DOT requirements
  • Ensures conformance with policies, procedures and all safety codes
  • Ensures proper documentation of maintenance and repair activities in logs or reports
  • Maintain effective system of communication with supervisors and co-workers
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area 

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required – CDL preferred
  • Must have own tools and tool box
  • Fork lift experience preferred
  • Welding experience preferred
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk a minimum of 8 hours per day
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of team
