Diesel Mechanic (45 hours per week)
Job Description:
Diesel mechanic is responsible for performing preventive maintenance inspection; troubleshoots, repairs and rebuilds major components on vehicles and equipment. Ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components.
- Utilizes vehicle computer electronic systems to diagnose needed repairs
- Repair and maintain: engines, frames, suspensions, ignition, fuel, braking, electrical, hydraulic, air and steering systems
- Performs DOT vehicle safety inspections and maintain documentation per DOT requirements
- Ensures conformance with policies, procedures and all safety codes
- Ensures proper documentation of maintenance and repair activities in logs or reports
- Maintain effective system of communication with supervisors and co-workers
- Maintains a clean and safe work area
Desired Experience and Skills:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required – CDL preferred
- Must have own tools and tool box
- Fork lift experience preferred
- Welding experience preferred
- Customer service experience preferred
- Ability to lift and move 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk a minimum of 8 hours per day
- Ability to work effectively as a member of team
